Fuel & Gas Stations in Armenia

Fueling up in Armenia is easy in and around towns, but worth planning on long mountain routes. One quirk surprises visitors: many local cars run on compressed or liquefied gas (CNG/LPG), so you'll see plenty of gas stations alongside petrol ones.

Petrol, diesel and gas

Petrol (including higher-octane grades) and diesel are widely available on the main highways and in towns. Many Armenian cars are converted to run on CNG or LPG gas, which is cheaper — if your rental is a gas car, the supplier will show you how it works at handover. Most travelers' rentals run on ordinary petrol.

Fill up before remote stretches

Stations cluster around towns and main roads but thin out in the deep south (Syunik), the high mountains and on the way to remote monasteries. Top up before long rural legs — to Tatev, Jermuk, the Selim Pass or the Lori canyons — rather than gambling on finding fuel.

FAQs

Yes around towns and main highways, where petrol, diesel and gas stations are common. On remote mountain and southern routes they're sparser, so fill up before long rural stretches.
